The Patel College of Global Sustainability at the University of South Florida is currently searching for four new faculty members.The Patel College is an interdisciplinary college that works on innovative research and application in urban sustainability, especially in the areas of water, energy and transportation.  This is a new college that is growing quickly, so they anticipate hiring multiple faculty each year for the foreseeable future.  Faculty and students can learn more about the Patel College on our home page:  http://psgs.usf.edu/

The Environmental Professionals Forum (EPF) exists for anyone in NSW who wants to develop their insight into environmental/sustainability professions. The EPF Charter is to provide an informal space for networking, exchange of ideas and change creation. 
 
EPF is run by volunteers. By joining the network, you receive occasional EPF Word of Mouth emails and quarterly event invites free of charge. To join the EPF Network simply send an email to this address with ‘Subscribe’ in the subject heading.

Come and get a glimpse of a Living Future.

One of the first buildings in Australia to take up the Living Building Challenge, the LFIA and University of Wollongong invite you to join us for a tour of the newly-opened SBRC.
The day’s events will include:

  • 10:00am Brief intro to the Living Building Challenge, from Amanda Sturgeon, Vice President, Living Building Challenge
  • 10:30am A summary of this year’s achievements and plans for 2014 by LFIA board members
  • 11:00am A tour of the SBRC , guided by people involved in the design and operation of the building
  • 12:00pm Lunch

How to Win a Solar Decathlon
As you may have heard UOW’s ‘Illawarra Flame’ House has received first place at the 2013 Solar Decathlon in Datong, China. The net-zero energy house, revamped a typical 1960s fibro house and was designed by students from the University of Wollongong and TAFE Illawarra.
At the forum you will find out all about the scheme from Mark Jones from AEJ.  You get to ask all the hard questions, get a behind-the-scenes insight into the house and find out where to from here for the team.
Forum is happening on 11th september 5:30pm at 3 Manning Street, Potts Point.

“Modernising Building Energy Codes to Secure our Global Energy future”

With the substantial pressure the buildings sector is adding every year to global energy supply, energy security and the environment, there is an urgent need for global policy action to reduce the energy demand of the built environment.
 
The IEA and the UNDPpartnered to analyse current practices in the design and the implementation of building energy codes. Step by step guidance for effective and successful implementation of building energy codes are provided in the publication. Illustrative examples from IEA and non IEA countries are included.
